Epsom Salt

This past week I scored the last bags of Montana Wheat Unbleached/Unbromated flour. This is by far my most favorite flour. For one I love supporting local businesses. Second I just love the way my baked goods turn out! Anyways.. back to my story. While making my bread for the week I kept getting sharp pains in my wrists and hands. Then to top it all off, they ached all night long. Talk about a long restless night!

One thing that has helped me greatly is soaking my hands in Epsom Salt. It's just one of those things that my grandma always to use when I had aches for muscles.. I thought it might be interesting to see what else you could use it for. Boy was I surprised at some of the uses! Who would of thought that such a simple ingrediant could have so many awesome uses! Here are some of the ones that caught my attention.

Relaxing Bath: Soaking in a bath of Epsom salts can relax your muscles, minimize pain, reduce inflammation, fade bruising, aid digestion and relieve stress and tension.

Remove Splinters: Soak affected area to draw out splinters

Exfoliate Skin: In the shower or bath, mix about a tablespoon of olive oil and Epsom Salt and rub all over wet skin to exfoliate and soften.

Remove Odor from stinky feet: Mix 1/2 cup Epsom Salt in warm water and soak for 10 minutes.

Tile Cleaner: Mix equal parts of Epsom Salts and Liquid dish detergent

You can check out some of the uses at the Epsom Salt Council or to read up more on this awesome stuff.

Well I take a pinch of it in a glass of water for aches and pains. It is especially good for aching shins. It is also useful mixed into a paste for blind pimples and boils. As you say it has many uses and is well worth keeping in the store cupboard.
