The very first thing I looked for was to see if the creators of yummysoup had completed the app for the ipad. I absolutely LOVE the computer version for keeping my recipes and for planning my weekly menus. But sadly it wasn't available. So I searched further and found an app called Dirty Dozen. The title certainly caught my attention and it's free. I decided to download it and see what it was all about.
Dirty Dozen in a nutshell is a shoppers guide to the pesticides on our produce. The app gives you the twelve dirtiest items along with the fifteen cleanest and everything in between. I try to buy as much of my produce from the organic section or from local farmers. But sometimes, in reality that just isn't possible. The cost alone of organic is expensive and when you are on a tight budget. Organic can really send your grocery bill sky high.
Since downloading the app I have been able to make some better decisions on what I purchase and what is brought into my home. I've been choosing organic versions of the "dirty dozen" to lower the amount of chemicals that are brought into my home.
